America the Beautiful is a patriotic song that most Americans learned and sang in grammar school. Ray Charles recorded a very well received rendition in the 1970s, as did Elvis and others The song has a well documented and interesting history. Initially written as a poem, later the melody from a different song was combined with it, to create the great tune about America.

Fast forward to 2019. Most of the versions out there aren't really the kind one would listen to, while having a glass of wine or just driving somewhere. It often sounds like a church hymn or a song in which one feels compelled to stand. Frank Lamphere had a notion that this song would sound great and be more listenable with a totally different approach. That's exactly what he did.
Lamphere gives this track "the treatment". Gently swinging guitar trio after bassist Dennis Carroll's intro. The band is joined by piano in the second chorus. The momentum grows with each chorus. A pair of fabulous solos (piano and tenor sax) ensue, before the final big chorus.
