When it comes to selecting entertainment for festivals, among the many factors in selecting a particular artist or group is their appeal to a wide audience. Frank Lamphere has been entertaining audiences large and small, young and old, on concert stages and nightclubs, at family get togethers and Fortune 500 companies, and in the US and Europe for nearly twenty years. His massive repertoire of more than 2500 songs assures a huge variety of genres to select from, as he puts together his sets for different fests (Always in the pre-1970s theme). His believable renderings in both jazz and pop, set him apart from most of his contemporaries.
Frank Lamphere's Rat Pack Jazz can be "dialed-in" for your event. Trio to big band. Musical themes can be general variety or artist specific: Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin. James Bond, Italian or French. Period themed such as: Speakeasy, World War Two, 1950s, or 1960s. Frank Sings the 60s is Lamphere's latest show. Most popular is the Rat Pack Jazz Variety Show. A successful show that maintains audience interest from start to finish is most often a balanced and varied one. With the Rat Pack Jazz Variety Show this balance is achieved by performing a mix of Rat Pack (Frank, Dean) along with particular tunes from other artists in that genre and era. Most similar acts rely on straight impersonation, right down to the identical arrangements and it rarely is as effective. The secret to Frank's success in addition to a high performance level is his ability to jump from one genre (pop, jazz, blues) to another, convincingly. Most pop singers cannot sing jazz and vice versa. Lamphere is an exception. He will impress with an Elvis Presley or Tom Jones number, tie that with a dramatic ballad, tell a humorous story, bounce from English to Italian on a 60s pop hit and finally, finish the set with a high-energy swing number. Throw in an instrumental or two since Lamphere's bands are comprised of the area's best musicians and you have a unique and powerful show. His is a show that can be booked over and over since Frank's enormous repertoire allows him to easily change songs and format from performance to performance.
Other than the minimum band of three musicians the number of musicians is only restricted by space allotment (up to 18 musicians). Keep in mind that a smaller band (trio) will have a smaller sound than a band with horns. The energy level, among other factors, is dictated directly by the number of instruments playing at any given time.
