The Godfather Theme

We remember that haunting melody that plays in various forms, throughout the Godfather films. It took us to the beginning of the 20th century and then post World War Two, Sicily. To the little village where Michael Corleone meets and marries the local, Apollonia. We remember this song being a big pop ballad & top 40 hit for Andy Williams, in the early 1970s. We like this song!

Here, Lamphere gives the song a completely different sound. One part Spaghetti Western, one part 60s jazz record, one part Melrose Park. All, in one (just-under) four-minute song.

Now appropriate for the backyard get-together, the bowling alley or the steakhouse, the Godfather Theme takes on a new swingin' life. Swinging and a little jazzy yet, absorb the sounds of "the old country" with shimmering mandolin and some remarkable alternating soloing by clarinet and accordion.
